Akseli Holopainen, who moved from Joroinen to Sulkava, built a shop building on the lakeside street in 1927. He took inspiration for the building style from Vihavainen’s mansard-roofed shop mansion located next door. Holopainen’s fabric, general goods and gunpowder store was clearly the largest private store in Sulkava. From 1935, Holopainen specialized in “dresses, suits and coats”.
